PCT Section B: San Jacinto to Snow Creek

Mount San Jacinto State Park and Wilderness
  • Length: 29–36 miles
  • PCT Miles: 179.4 – 209.5
  • Duration: 2 nights / 3 days
  • Highlights: Idyllwild • Palm Springs • Fuller Ridge • Stunning alpine wilderness • Established campgrounds • PCT 200-mile marker • The most famous rusty pipe you will ever meet.
  • Difficulty: Hard, weather challenges, significant changes in elevation.
  • Season: This hike has a narrow weather window to get optimal conditions in both the mountains and the desert. We completed this stretch in mid-October. We had snow/ice at higher elevations with nighttime temps in the low 30s, while lower elevations reached into the high 80s.

PCT Section C: Interstate 10 to Onyx Summit

Section C: Big Bear, California

  • Length: 42.6 Miles (Section Letter C)
  • PCT Miles: 209.5-252.1
  • Duration: 3 nights, 4 days
  • Highlights: Water, water, water.
  • Difficulty: Hard, navigation challenges, rocky exposed trail, steep uphill climb.
  • Season: Spring or Fall, lower elevation can be very hot!

  • Miles: 252.1 – 266.1
  • Duration: 1 nights, 2 days
  • Highlights: Big Bear Lake, Cruisy Trail, Pine Forests, Easy Access
  • Difficulty: Cruisy, good warm up hike
  • Season: Summer

PCT Section I: Benson Lake Loop

Yosemite National Park and Hoover WildernessCalifornia

  • Length: 48 miles
  • Duration: 5-6 days
  • PCT Miles: 963.2 to 977.4 (14 Miles through the beautiful Sierra section!)
  • Highlights: This 48-mile loop through Yosemite’s northern section showcases glacial-fed alpine lakes, towering granite peaks, and meadows bursting with wildflowers. The hike starts on the less-traveled eastern side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains and follows the Pacific Crest Trail for 14 miles along the backside of the loop, giving adventurers a taste of the Sierra section of the PCT.
